The touchpad on my HP laptop suddenly stopped working, and the usual troubleshooting guides haven't helped because many of the settings they mention aren't available on my system. I also tried double-tapping the upper-left corner of the touchpad, but that didn't re-enable it. I can use a touchscreen and an external mouse if needed. What HP laptop model do you have, and what steps can I try to get the touchpad working again?

Connect a USB mouse if possible, then run HP Support Assistant and install all recommended driver and Windows updates. Restart after the updates finish, since the touchpad driver or related settings may not appear until the system is fully updated.

I was able to use the touchscreen and run HP Support Assistant, but its suggested steps still didn’t restore the touchpad.
