I recently installed Omarchy on a 12-inch Intel MacBook (model A1534) with only 234 battery cycles. About a week later, it suddenly stopped charging. I tested two USB-C cables and charging blocks both directly and through a powered hub, and the port looks clean. An SMC reset made no difference. The system reports that no battery is present and shows ADP1 online = 0, while the battery icon has disappeared. The last reported charge was 6%. Is there anything else I can check, or is the battery or laptop effectively beyond repair?

Having a Timeshift backup is useful, especially with an Arch-based system, but it won’t directly diagnose a charging problem. Since the battery vanished from the system entirely, I’d focus on determining whether this is a software detection issue or a hardware failure. Booting a different Linux installation or a live environment could help distinguish between the two; if the battery is missing there as well, the battery, USB-C charging hardware, or a related connector is probably at fault.
I already have my data backed up—I’m mainly trying to figure out whether the charging problem is recoverable.
