I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 2600X with a new RX 7700 XT graphics card, and I'm thinking it's time for a CPU upgrade. I want to stick with Ryzen and need to use the AM4 socket for the moment. Any recommendations?

I'd recommend going for the Ryzen 5800X3D if you can find it. It's a great upgrade and will pair nicely with your RX 7700 XT.

I'm having trouble finding the 5800X3D locally, but I do see the 5700X3D available. How does that compare?

It really depends on your budget. The 5700X3D is a top performer for AM4, but if you're looking to save, the 5600 is half the price and still offers decent performance.

First, what motherboard are you using? Knowing that will help narrow down your options. What motherboard do you have?

I have the MSI B450M Mortar!

If you're sticking with AM4, the Ryzen 5 5600 or the 5700X3D are solid choices. The 5700X3D is the best option right now, but it's pricier.

I've noticed the 5700X3D is almost double the price of the 5600. Is it really worth that much if I game a lot?

The 5700X is also a good option if the 5700X3D is out of your price range. It should still give you a nice performance boost.
