My display briefly flashes completely white for a fraction of a second and then returns to normal. It happens unpredictably in different applications, sometimes not occurring for hours and other times happening several times close together. The system uses an ASUS PRIME B550M-A WIFI II motherboard, a Ryzen 7 5700G, 64GB of RAM, and currently an RTX 5050. An RTX 2060 SUPER showed the same problem more frequently. I have tested both GPUs, each RAM stick individually, different PSU cables and power-supply ports, a fresh Windows installation, clean graphics-driver installations, two monitors, HDMI and DisplayPort cables, and the latest BIOS. I also reseated and cleaned the components. None of these changes eliminated the flash. A PCIe recovery count in HWiNFO64 was initially suspicious, but it sometimes stayed unchanged while the screen still flashed, so I am not treating that value as the cause. I am planning to test a borrowed PSU and possibly an AMD graphics card. With the GPU, RAM, display, cables, drivers, and operating system already ruled out, would a failing PSU or motherboard PCIe slot be more likely? Could the CPU or another component cause this kind of brief white flash?

Since the issue follows the system across two monitors, different HDMI and DisplayPort cables, two GPUs, a clean OS install, and separate RAM tests, the display itself and the obvious GPU-side causes are becoming less likely. Testing with a known-good PSU is a sensible next step, especially because the older GPU flashed more often, which could point to power delivery or transient sensitivity. If the borrowed PSU produces the same result, the motherboard or its PCIe slot becomes a stronger suspect; the CPU is possible but considerably less likely. An AMD GPU test would also be useful because it can help distinguish an NVIDIA-specific driver or compatibility issue from a board-level problem.
I tested another monitor with both HDMI and DisplayPort, and the white flash still occurred. The motherboard and power supply are only about four months old, but I will try the spare PSU first. If the behavior remains unchanged, the motherboard would be the next major component I would investigate.
