My computer has very limited hardware, and I can't afford to replace it, so I'm using the browser version of VS Code. I have Windows installed on a Steam Deck and currently mirror it to my Chromebook, but the setup feels awkward. Is there a practical way to use Live Server or preview my web projects while working through VS Code for the web?

Another possibility is using a browser-compatible collaboration extension such as Live Share, although SSH is generally better if you want to run a local development server and keep the project on your Steam Deck.
The most practical option is connecting the browser-based editor to your Steam Deck over SSH. Install and enable the OpenSSH server on Windows, then use the Remote SSH extension to work with files and run commands on the Deck. Your Chromebook only handles the browser interface, while the Deck does the actual processing. If possible, keep the connection limited to your local network rather than exposing SSH directly to the internet.
You could also try GitHub Codespaces if your project fits within its free usage limits. It provides a remote development environment, so your Chromebook doesn’t need to run the tools locally.
