I bought an iPhone 17 Pro Max about five days ago, but the battery life has been worrying me. I'm only getting around five hours of use, even though I expected it to last most of the day. I also recently installed a new iOS update, so I'm wondering whether the phone is still setting itself up or if there could be a battery problem. Should I contact Apple Support?

New iPhones can use extra battery during the first week while they finish indexing photos, syncing data, restoring apps, and learning your usage habits. A recent iOS update can temporarily add to that activity too. Give it several more days, then check Settings > Battery to see which apps or processes are using the most power.
Did the battery drain start after installing the latest iOS update? If so, it may be temporary background activity. Keep the phone updated, restart it once, and monitor the battery usage for a few more days. If you’re still only getting about five hours after the phone finishes syncing and indexing, then Apple Support can run a battery diagnostic.
Yes, I installed the new update recently, so I’ll monitor it for a few more days.

Should I contact Apple Support now, or wait a little longer to see whether the battery settles down?
