I'm having trouble estimating its used-market value because component prices seem inconsistent.
Is $2,500 a strong offer for this system, or would it be reasonable to ask for more? The offer came through an eBay listing, so I'd also like to know how risky it is to sell an expensive, fully assembled PC there. I'm concerned about seller fees, returns, shipping damage, fraudulent claims, or a buyer swapping components before returning the system.
If I sell it, I'm considering spending about $3,000 on a newer build with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, AM5 motherboard, DDR5 memory, a 2TB NVMe SSD, an RTX 5070 Ti, and a 1000W power supply.

That offer is very good for a used system, so I’d seriously consider taking it if the buyer and transaction look legitimate. The RTX 4080 SUPER makes up most of the value, while the older AM4 platform, DDR4 memory, basic storage setup, case, and Bronze-rated PSU limit what the complete build is worth. You might get less selling the parts separately, but that comes with more work and its own risks.
If the goal is better gaming performance, you may not need to replace the entire computer. The 4080 SUPER is still the strongest part of the current build. Moving to a newer CPU, motherboard, and DDR5 memory could improve CPU-limited performance while letting you keep the graphics card, case, and possibly the storage. The proposed 5070 Ti system may offer a newer platform, but selling a system with a 4080 SUPER and then buying a lower-tier GPU could be a mixed upgrade depending on the games and resolution you use.
