My earphones have started playing what sounds like two people talking, and it happens in different places. I can sometimes make out a woman saying something like "have a nice…" while a man's voice is harder to understand. I checked and don't think there are any nearby radio towers. It's really unsettling—could the earphones be picking up a radio signal, or is something else going on?

If they’re Bluetooth earbuds, check what device they’re connected to, reset the pairing, and look for audio enhancements or another nearby device sending audio. Testing the same earphones with a different phone or computer should help narrow it down.
Try a different pair of earphones first, and figure out whether these are wired or Bluetooth. Wired earphones can occasionally act like an accidental antenna, especially if the cable or shielding is poor, allowing nearby radio transmissions to come through. Loose connections can also create strange audio artifacts.
It could also be your brain interpreting steady background noise as speech or music, sometimes called musical ear or auditory pareidolia. If the voices only happen with a particular noise or while wearing the earphones, that’s worth considering. If you hear them clearly without the earphones, or it continues after switching devices, talk with a healthcare professional.
