I recently heard someone mention that the DuckDuckGo browser can prevent YouTube ads, possibly because of its built-in privacy and ad-blocking features. I tried it on my phone, signed into my usual YouTube account, and confirmed that videos played without ads. The mobile browser was inconvenient, though, so I went back to the regular YouTube app.
The strange part is that ads still haven't returned. I no longer see them in the YouTube app on my phone, and they are also missing from the YouTube apps on both my LG and Hisense TVs. I didn't change any settings in YouTube, my router, or the apps, so I'm wondering whether signing into my account through DuckDuckGo somehow affected ad delivery across my other devices. Has anyone experienced something similar, or is there another explanation?

Privacy-focused browsers such as DuckDuckGo or Brave can make YouTube appear ad-free because they block scripts and ad requests. Similar results can come from extensions like uBlock Origin. That behavior doesn't generally carry over to official YouTube apps on smart TVs, so the other devices are probably experiencing a separate temporary issue.
It may simply be a delayed failure in YouTube's ad system. If the service is getting errors while trying to load ads, it can play videos without them for a while and then start showing ads again once delivery succeeds. Keep an eye on it, because the ad-free behavior may not be permanent.
A browser-level blocker normally only affects that browser. If ads are missing from your phone and both TVs, check for something that applies to the whole network, such as router-level filtering, an ad-blocking DNS service, or another device-wide privacy setting. If none of those changed, a temporary YouTube-side or account-side glitch is more likely than DuckDuckGo changing your account.
DuckDuckGo's browser can block or interfere with ads while you're using that browser, but signing into YouTube there shouldn't modify your account or transfer ad blocking to other devices. The timing is probably coincidental. YouTube may have temporarily failed to deliver ads to your devices, and that issue could resolve on its own later.
