I'm running Sage Peachtree Quantum 2010 on a modern Windows 11 computer for basic accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory tracking. I know the software is old, but it worked acceptably on my previous Windows 7 PC and I don't need the newer features.
The problem is that sales orders, invoices, purchase orders, and other inventory-related screens take about 10 seconds to populate each line after I enter an Item ID. Any window that has to retrieve inventory data is noticeably delayed. Payment screens and reports, however, open and respond normally.
I've already tried Windows compatibility mode. Are there any practical fixes, such as database maintenance, security-software exclusions, or configuration changes, that might improve the inventory lookup speed?

Check whether antivirus or endpoint security is scanning the program and company-data folders every time Sage accesses them. Carefully configured exclusions for the relevant Sage folders, along with allowing the application through the firewall, may reduce the delay. Make sure you understand the security trade-offs before excluding anything, and reindex or repair the company database afterward if the software provides those tools.
That would be my first test too. Older Sage installations often require several program and data folders to be excluded from real-time scanning, not just the main executable folder.
