Production Microsoft 365 Tenant Deauthenticated for More Than 10 Days

Our small organization, with roughly 10 Microsoft 365 identities, suddenly lost access to the entire production tenant. Every sign-in returns AADSTS5000224, stating that the tenant has been deauthenticated and is no longer available. We have contacted Microsoft Support repeatedly for about ten days. The case was escalated to the data protection team several days ago, but communication and progress have been very limited. Has anyone dealt with this error and found an effective escalation path or recovery process?

If your organization has access to paid or enhanced Microsoft support, use that channel as well. It may provide a guaranteed initial response within a stated time window, although that does not necessarily mean the specialist team will resolve the tenant immediately.

Our regular support channel already responds within roughly that time, but the case simply gets passed to another department and then slows down. I am trying to understand whether enhanced support would reach a different escalation path.

This usually needs to be handled by Microsoft's data protection or tenant recovery team rather than standard frontline support. Keep the existing case open, ask for the escalation owner and current severity, and request a concrete status update instead of allowing the ticket to be repeatedly re-routed.

It was escalated to the data protection team several days ago, but we have received very little communication since then. Standard support replies quickly, but mostly just confirm another escalation.

This is also a good reminder to plan for a complete tenant outage. Independent Microsoft 365 backups can preserve mail and files, and in an emergency you could create a replacement tenant and restore the data. Moving mail is more complicated because domains, DNS records, identities, and authentication all have to be rebuilt, so test that recovery plan before you need it.

Our backup system contains the tenant data, so creating a new tenant and restoring or exporting everything is technically possible. The difficult part would be reconfiguring DNS and getting mail delivery working again.
