A surge protector was accidentally switched off while another device was being plugged in. After turning it back on, the PC would not start at all. The monitor and printer still work, but the PC shows no lights, fan movement, or other signs of power. What should be checked next?

Since other devices work and the computer remains completely silent on multiple outlets, the power supply is a strong suspect. Try a known-good compatible power cable first. If that changes nothing, the PSU may have failed and could need replacement.
First, confirm the surge protector's switch is on and try bypassing it by connecting the PC directly to a wall outlet. Also disconnect all external devices, including the keyboard, mouse, USB devices, and other peripherals, before testing the power button.
A brief power interruption normally should not prevent a healthy computer from starting, so the timing may be coincidental. Check the power supply's rear switch, the motherboard's main 24-pin and CPU power connectors, and the case power-button cable. If everything is connected correctly and there are still no motherboard LEDs or fan movement, the PSU or motherboard likely needs testing.
I tried several outlets and surge protectors, including testing without the peripherals connected, but the PC still has no lights, fans, or other response.
