Why is My PC Taking So Long to Boot?

Hey everyone! My brother just built his first PC, and while everything seems to work, it takes around 10 minutes to boot up. Programs take an eternity to open too, like the settings menu, which lags for about 30 seconds. However, once the programs are running, gaming and apps perform well. I suspect this might be an issue with the hard drive. I've checked that all drivers are updated and that his storage isn't filled up, but I'm stumped on what else to check or how to diagnose this problem. Any advice or tool recommendations would be super helpful!

First off, is your operating system installed on the NVMe drive? If so, make sure it's at the top of the boot priority list in the BIOS. Also, try running CrystalDiskMark to check the disk speeds, just in case one of them is acting up.

I agree with the others on the NVMe drive priority! If that's not the issue, consider checking the SSD for firmware updates. Sometimes, outdated firmware can lead to slower speeds. Also, if you see erratic speed test results, you're likely dealing with a failing drive.
