Why can’t I press more than three keys at once on my keyboard?

Hey everyone, I'm having a frustrating issue with my keyboard on Debian 12. It seems I can't press more than three keys at the same time without it not registering. For example, when I'm gaming and trying to use WASD along with other keys for controls, some of them just don't work. I read something about the "Caps Lock delay issue," but I don't have any trouble with Shift or Caps Lock. I'm getting really desperate here because I want to avoid changing distros again!

It's always a good idea to mention your specific distribution and hardware details when asking for help. That way, others can provide better advice. You might also want to check if your touchpad being disabled while typing is due to a setting called 'disable while typing.' This can sometimes interfere with keyboard function as well.

Thanks for the tip! I'll look into that setting and see if it helps.

It sounds like you're dealing with a keyboard key rollover issue. This is common with older laptop keyboards where the way keys are wired prevents multiple key presses from being registered simultaneously. USB keyboards can have this issue too, depending on their design. Good keyboards support something called n-key rollover, so check if yours does! You might find more info on that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lPzTU-3ONI

I actually have a netbook and had no issues with key presses when using Windows, so this could be related to hardware too.
