Help with Internet Access Issues on Windows PC

I've been experiencing frustrating internet issues on my Windows PC for about a month now. While browsing and downloading through the web works perfectly, several apps like Discord and Battle Net are unable to update, and my VPN doesn't detect any network connection. There are also problems with some features in the MMO game BDO, and tools like Copilot and news widgets won't load at all. I've tried a lot of troubleshooting steps, including changing my router and ethernet cable (I'm wired, no Wi-Fi), flushing DNS, renewing my IP, reinstalling the Ethernet driver, and adjusting settings to use IPv4 instead of IPv6. It's puzzling, especially since it all started after an electrician worked on a plug near my setup, though I can't be sure that's related. I'm at a loss and really need some suggestions to get this sorted out!

It sounds like your firewall might be the culprit. Browsers typically only use a few ports, so if something changed in your firewall settings, that could affect other apps but not your web browsing. You should definitely check your Windows firewall rules to see if there are any blocks. Also, testing your connection with another computer could help rule out whether it’s a hardware issue or something specific to your PC. If you haven't tried it yet, see if it works in a different location with another ISP, too.

I tried checking the firewall settings and they seem fine. I've even disabled Kaspersky and Windows Defender, but that didn't solve the issue. Should I still look into the firewall settings further?
