Is My Thermaltake Smart RGB 700W PSU Enough for an RTX 5080?

I've decided to buy an RTX 5080, which I finally found at a good price. My concern is whether my Thermaltake Smart RGB 700W PSU will handle this 380W GPU, especially since I'm pairing it with a Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Should I consider upgrading my PSU for this setup? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I'd advise against using that PSU. I had a similar experience where I was getting driver timeouts on my PC due to the PSU issues. Upgrading to a better quality unit fixed my problems. Aim for at least 850W Gold certified, and you'll be safer in the long run!

700W is a bit risky for your setup, especially with the 5080. I'd recommend going for at least 750W, but 850W would be ideal to ensure stability and headroom for future upgrades.

Definitely upgrade it! The 700W rating is technically enough for your setup's draw, but the quality of the Thermaltake Smart series is a concern. There are many better options out there that will give you peace of mind. I'd suggest looking into at least an 850W model from a reputable brand.

Honestly, I wouldn't trust that PSU with a high-end card like the RTX 5080. Thermaltake's reputation isn’t great, and even the better ones aren’t recommended for setups like yours. It's probably safer to look for a PSU from a more reliable brand.

That PSU isn't great. It's often rated poorly, so I'd look for something more dependable. This kind of hardware deserves a solid PSU, for sure!
