I've nearly finished building a new PC with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and an ASUS RX 9070 XT. So far, I've spent about €1,511 on the CPU, graphics card, motherboard, cooler, case, and power supply.
The only remaining parts are memory and storage. DDR5 pricing currently seems unusually high, with some 32GB kits costing over €400, and SSD prices also seem elevated. I'm reluctant to spend that much, but I also need RAM and an SSD to assemble the system and test the expensive components before their return periods expire.
Should I buy reasonably priced parts now, wait for upcoming sales or Black Friday, or use temporary components to test the system? One option would be to buy a single inexpensive 16GB DDR5 stick now and replace or expand it later. For storage, I could buy a 1TB SSD initially and add a second drive when prices improve instead of buying a 2TB model immediately.
I'm not concerned about getting the absolute fastest RAM or SSD. I'm mainly looking for a sensible solution for this 7800X3D and RX 9070 XT build.

I wouldn’t count on DDR5 prices dropping soon, so waiting specifically for cheaper RAM may not pay off. However, paying €400 or more for 32GB just to get the system running doesn’t make much sense either. If you buy a temporary stick, try to choose a reasonably similar model to the kit you eventually want so it doesn’t become completely useless later.
