I currently have an MSI B365M PRO-VDH motherboard with a GTX 1650 and an Intel i5 9400F. I'm considering upgrading to an Intel i7 7700K and an AMD RX 5700 XT. I believe these parts are compatible with my motherboard, but I'd like to hear what everyone else thinks about this upgrade.

You're not really upgrading by going to the 7700K—it's pretty much the same performance-wise. Plus, it's not even compatible with your motherboard, so you'll need to look at different options.
Honestly, there isn't a worthwhile upgrade for your setup unless you change your motherboard. If you want to get a better CPU, you’ll likely need to upgrade your RAM too, so plan for that.
Actually, the i7 7700K isn't compatible with your motherboard since it uses a different version of the LGA1151 socket. It's also worth noting that it's not a real upgrade from your i5 9400F. I’d recommend looking for a more current CPU that fits your board instead.
To clarify, the LGA1151 socket has two versions, and the 7700K will not work in your B365 board. However, your GPU upgrade to the RX 5700 XT should be fine! Just focus on finding the right CPU for your setup.
So what CPU should I get instead?
