Hey folks! I recently downloaded a game from a source I usually trust, played it, and then removed the game along with the installer. However, I've seen some chatter online suggesting that this game might actually be a Trojan that can steal your accounts and passwords. Luckily, I haven't noticed any issues on my end, but I'm a bit paranoid now and want to make sure my PC is virus-free. By the way, my PC has been connected to WiFi with multiple other devices on it. Any tips on how I can check for a Trojan or clean up my system?

Just so you know, sometimes games from third-party sites might trigger false positives for Trojans due to how they’ve been cracked. That said, the only real way to feel completely safe if you’re worried about infection is to perform a clean installation of Windows and make sure to change all your passwords and enable two-factor authentication wherever you can.
Just to let you know, infostealers often delete themselves after doing their job. If you suspect that might be the case, it’s wise to change your passwords for all your accounts ASAP.
You might want to actually name the game and the source you downloaded from. It could help others avoid any potential issues!
Definitely consider doing a clean install if you’re uneasy. It’s the safest bet to ensure nothing sneaky lingers on your machine. Plus, enabling 2FA on everything can add an extra layer of protection for you.
First off, it’s a good idea to run a reliable antivirus program and also reset your browsers—there are guides online for how to do that. I’d recommend using MalwareBytes as well to see if it picks up anything unusual. Keep a lookout for any alerts from either program!

I already ran MalwareBytes and Windows antivirus, but neither found anything. Should I be concerned?
