The CPU choice matters more at 1080p or with a high-refresh-rate monitor, where a weaker processor can limit frame rates. At those settings, an X3D chip can still provide a meaningful advantage, so the 7600X3D is the safest gaming choice if its price is reasonable.
Before choosing the CPU, compare the total platform cost. The 7600X3D may offer the best gaming performance, but a cheaper processor paired with a stronger GPU could produce higher frame rates overall. It may also be worth comparing the price of a 16GB graphics card, since 8GB of VRAM can become limiting in newer games.
The Ryzen 5 7600X3D is generally the strongest gaming-focused option here because its extra 3D V-Cache can improve frame rates and frame-time consistency. The Ryzen 9 9700X can win in some individual games, but the 7600X3D is usually the better pick if gaming is the priority.
All three CPUs are capable, and with an RTX 5060 Ti the difference may not be very noticeable at higher resolutions or demanding settings. If possible, putting the savings toward a faster graphics card will usually improve gaming performance more than upgrading the processor.
That’s especially true for competitive 1080p gaming. Even a non-X3D Ryzen chip can leave some performance unused in CPU-limited games, so it’s worth considering the monitor and target frame rate rather than only the graphics card.
