Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a bind and could really use your insights. My PC has been acting up since December, with random shutdowns and restarts, mainly when I'm using light applications. I upgraded most of my components, but I'm still facing issues. Here's my current setup:
- Ryzen 5 5600g (from 2021)
- Gigabyte B450m motherboard (from 2021)
- Kingston HyperX Fury 2x8GB 3200MHz RAM (new)
- Teamgroup GX2 500GB SSD for the OS (new)
- Coolermaster MWE Gold 650W PSU (new)
- Deepcool AK400 CPU cooler (new)
- Sapphire RX7600XT GPU (bought in 2023)
I thought replacing the motherboard would help, so I bought an MSI B550M Pro VDH Wifi and had the BIOS updated to work with my 5600g. After transferring the build (without the GPU initially), the PC powers on, the keyboard lights up, but it gets stuck on the motherboard screen with "Pro Series" and the three dots that never move.
I can access the BIOS by spamming the Delete key, and it recognizes all my components. However, when I attempt to boot, it just loops back to the BIOS. I've tried clearing the CMOS, swapping RAM sticks, and attempting to boot from a USB drive, but nothing seems to work. What could be going on? Is the motherboard the issue?

It sounds like your system isn't recognizing the bootable USB. Have you double-checked if the USB is set up correctly? It might help to use a different USB port or even a different USB drive if you have one. Sometimes the boot sequence can be finicky on new motherboards.
Have you tried switching the BIOS settings from UEFI to Legacy or vice versa? Sometimes that can help resolve boot issues like this. Give it a shot!
I haven't tried that yet! I wasn't aware that it could be a factor. I'll definitely give it a go. Thanks for the tip!
Yeah, I made the bootable USB myself and had done it a few times before. I guess I could try different ports. Thanks for the suggestion!
