I'm interested in getting into PC gaming and streaming, but I've never owned a PC before. I'm thinking about building my own PC because I've heard that prebuilts aren't the best option. However, I'm new to this and would appreciate any advice on what specs I should look for in a budget gaming PC, especially since my budget is around $1000 to $1500 CAD.

I’d suggest being cautious about jumping into building your own PC as a first-timer. While it can be rewarding, it can also lead to mistakes that could cost you. If you prefer a safer route, a prebuilt might save you from potential headaches and still deliver solid performance for gaming.

Getting a decent gaming PC for your budget might be tough. Prices have gone up recently due to market conditions, and if you just want something for gaming, a console could also be a good alternative. If you do go the PC route, ensure you do thorough research and maybe stick to lower-cost components to avoid mistakes.

If you’re considering building your own PC, make sure it’s because you genuinely want to get into the process, not just because others say prebuilts are bad. Watching a few tutorial videos can really help too! Building can be easy, but you might run into issues, especially if you’re a beginner.

At this point, whether you go for a built or prebuilt might not make much difference price-wise. Focus on compatibility and be mindful of specs, especially with graphics cards. Look for AMD over NVIDIA for budget builds. Also, consider buying used parts to save money!

Honestly, if you’re not super into PC parts and building, you might want to look at used options. With streaming in mind, you could also explore cloud services like Geforce Now, which lets you rent a high-end GPU for games. This can add some delay, but it could work depending on your connection.
