CachyOS boots to a black screen during installation

I'm trying to move from Windows to CachyOS, but every time I boot the installer I'm met with a completely black screen. I'm still new to Linux and couldn't find a solution in the documentation. I suspect my NVIDIA graphics card might be related, but I'm not sure what to try next. Any troubleshooting advice would be appreciated.

Do you have an NVIDIA GPU? Black screens during the live boot are fairly common with NVIDIA hardware. Try selecting the installer’s fallback or NVIDIA-compatible boot option if one is available. You can also try adding the `nomodeset` boot parameter temporarily; once the system is installed, install the appropriate proprietary NVIDIA driver and rebuild the boot configuration if needed.

Yes, I’m using an NVIDIA GPU, so that may be the cause. I’ll try the fallback boot option and look into installing the proprietary driver after that.
