I'm building my first PC with a budget of about US$1,200–1,300. It will mainly be used for university and software engineering, but I'd like to add a graphics card later for some gaming. I'm not aiming for a high-end system, though I want the platform to remain useful for several years.
I've settled on the Ryzen 5 7600 and plan to use DDR5 memory on AM5. Since PC components are especially expensive where I live in Latin America, I want to choose carefully and get a reliable mid-range motherboard without overspending.
The models I'm currently considering are the Gigabyte B650M D3HP AX, Gigabyte B850M Gaming X and its Wi-Fi variants, ASUS TUF Gaming B850M-E WiFi, and Gigabyte B850M Aorus Elite ICE WiFi. Which would be the best long-term choice, and are the more expensive B850 boards worth considering for this build?

The Gigabyte B850M Gaming X and B850M Aorus Elite ICE appear to have the strongest VRM designs among these options, which makes them more attractive if you eventually upgrade to a higher-power AM5 processor. For a Ryzen 5 7600, any of these boards should be capable, so the decision mostly comes down to features such as USB connectivity, Wi-Fi, M.2 slots, fan headers, and rear I/O. Also check reliability reports for the exact model before buying.
I’m using the Gigabyte B850M Aorus Elite ICE with Wi-Fi 6E and it has been a solid experience so far. It should give you plenty of room for a future graphics card and processor upgrade, but make sure its additional features are useful to you before paying more than you need to for the current Ryzen 5 7600.

I’ve been comparing those two as well. The Gaming X seems like the better budget option, while the Aorus Elite ICE offers more features, so I’m trying to decide whether the extra cost is worthwhile.
