Is upgrading from 24-inch 1080p to 27-inch 1440p worth it with a GTX 1650 Super and PS5?

I have an older 24-inch HP 1080p monitor that still works well. I'm considering one of the Acer or Samsung G5 QHD monitors selling for around $160. Would 1440p provide a noticeable graphics and sharpness improvement, and would it work well with both my GTX 1650 Super PC and the base PS5?

Check the exact monitor model rather than choosing only by resolution. Some Samsung G5 VA versions are known for dark smearing, while a good IPS Acer may have clearer motion and better response times. If you buy 1440p for future use, confirm that it supports 1440p at 120Hz over HDMI for the PS5. Otherwise, staying with 1080p and upgrading the GPU first may be the better value.

At 27 inches, 1440p is noticeably sharper than 1080p, with clearer text and more desktop space. The PS5 can take advantage of 1440p at 60Hz or 120Hz if the monitor supports the right HDMI mode. Your GTX 1650 Super is the limitation, though. It should be fine for desktop use, older games, and esports, but newer 3D games will often require reduced settings or 1080p resolution.
