Are there any changes I should make to this long-term gaming PC build?

I'm putting together my second PC build after about six years and want it to last for several more. The current parts are a Radeon RX 7900 XTX Pulse, Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB of DDR5-6000 CL30 memory with AMD EXPO, an MSI B850 WiFi 6E motherboard, a Corsair RM850x 850W Gold fully modular PSU, a 2TB SATA SSD, and a Thermalright Peerless Assassin cooler. I'm mainly interested in 4K gaming and would like to use it for VR sim racing as well. The graphics card was given to me by a friend, so I'm building around it. Are there any compatibility, performance, or longevity changes you'd recommend?

Before buying, double-check the motherboard’s BIOS support and that the board has the features you actually need. The memory specification is a good match, but after assembling everything, enable the EXPO profile in the BIOS so it runs at DDR5-6000 instead of its default speed. You may also want to consider 64GB if you plan on heavily modded games, productivity work, or demanding simulation software, though 32GB is still plenty for most gaming today.

An 850W RM850x is enough for the 7900 XTX and 7800X3D, assuming the cables and connectors are in good condition. Since this particular unit is refurbished, I’d verify the warranty and return policy. If the price difference is small, a new, high-quality PSU may be worthwhile for a system you want to keep for six years. Also make sure the case has strong airflow, because the 7900 XTX can produce substantial heat.

The core parts look strong and should be excellent for 4K gaming. The main part that stands out is the 2TB SATA SSD. It will work, but a 2TB NVMe drive would offer much faster load times and is usually a better fit for a new AM5 system. You could keep the SATA drive for extra storage if you already own it. The 7800X3D, 32GB of DDR5-6000 CL30, and Peerless Assassin are all sensible choices for gaming.

The 7900 XTX was a hand-me-down from a friend, so I decided to build around it. I’ve had the SATA SSD for about three years and planned to use the system for 4K gaming and eventually VR sim racing.
