What parts should I choose for an affordable gaming PC?

I have almost no experience with PCs or building computers and would appreciate help choosing compatible parts for a gaming system. My target budget is around $1,000, although spending closer to $800 would be ideal if possible. I mainly play Roblox and Minecraft right now, but I would like enough performance to handle a wide range of newer games smoothly at medium to high settings, preferably at 1080p and possibly 1440p. I also need advice on the CPU, graphics card, motherboard, memory, storage, power supply, and case.

Before buying, watch a few beginner PC-building and budget-build guides that show real gaming results. Around $1,000 is enough for a very capable system, especially at 1080p, and can often manage 1440p depending on the graphics card and settings. Remember to budget for peripherals and an operating system if you do not already have them.

One example build under $900 would use a Ryzen 5 5600, an affordable tower cooler, a B550 motherboard, 16 GB of DDR4 memory, a 500 GB NVMe SSD, an Intel Arc B580 12 GB graphics card, a compact micro-ATX case, and a 650-watt 80 Plus Gold power supply. This type of configuration should handle Roblox and Minecraft easily and provide strong 1080p performance in most games. A larger 1 TB SSD would be worthwhile if the budget allows.

An $800 budget is realistic for this goal. Prioritize the graphics card, then pair it with a capable midrange processor such as a Ryzen 5 7600. That should give you smooth 1080p gaming and leave room for trying more demanding titles later. The exact recommendation depends on current prices and the games you ultimately choose.

For the best value, consider buying some components used, especially the processor, graphics card, memory, and SSD. It is generally safer to buy the power supply, motherboard, and case new. Local listings can have good DDR4-based parts, but check the seller, test everything when possible, and avoid unknown or suspicious power supplies.
