Is the 5800X3D Worth the Upgrade Over the 5800XT for Gaming?

Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my GPU to a 4070 Super, and I'm stuck with AM4 processors. I've heard that the 5800X3D is considered the best CPU for the AM4 generation, especially for gaming, but it's quite pricey—around the high $200s even for used ones on eBay. On the flip side, I found the 5800XT on sale for just $130 on Amazon. I'm trying to figure out if the 5800X3D is a significant enough upgrade to justify the cost, or if I should just settle for the cheaper 5800XT. Would the 5800XT be sufficient to pair with my 4070 Super for gaming, especially at 1440p in GPU-heavy titles?

If you're coming from a 1660 Ti and an Intel i5 9500T, the switch to a 5800X3D will definitely be noticeable in gaming. It's a powerhouse for the AM4 platform, especially at 1440p. However, the 5800XT is a solid choice too if you're on a budget—at $130, you can’t really beat that price. For GPU-heavy games, it should pair reasonably well with your 4070 Super, but it might not get the most out of it like the 5800X3D would. But if you're mostly playing GPU-intensive titles, the 5800XT could do the job just fine without breaking the bank.

You might also consider the 5700X3D as a middle ground option. I upgraded to that from a 3700X and it doesn't bottleneck my RTX 3080 at 1440p in any game. It's certainly more affordable than the 5800X3D, but still delivers strong performance. Just a thought if you’re looking for better value for your setup!
