Windows 11 Won’t Boot After Repeated Game Crashes

My Windows 11 computer began crashing whenever I launched Rainbow Six Siege and its security software finished loading. After several crashes, the PC stopped starting altogether. The recovery screen says Windows cannot start and shows error 0xc000000f, meaning a required device is missing or inaccessible. It also reports CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED (0xEF). I can't currently access Windows or contact the manufacturer. What is the safest way to repair the installation without losing my files?

You can also use Command Prompt from the Windows recovery USB to inspect the Windows volume and repair the boot files, but the exact commands depend on which drive letter the recovery environment assigns to Windows. Running commands blindly could make the problem worse, so identify the correct Windows partition first. If the drive is failing or is not detected in BIOS, software repair may not be enough and the files should be copied off the drive before reinstalling.

I was hoping for a step-by-step method because I don’t want to use the wrong disk or command. I’ll check whether the drive is visible before trying anything advanced.

The most practical first step is to create a Windows 11 installation or recovery USB from another working computer. Boot the affected PC from that USB, choose “Repair your computer” instead of installing Windows, and open the recovery tools. From there, try Startup Repair first. A bootable USB is often necessary when the built-in recovery environment cannot access the required files.

So I should create a Windows boot USB on another computer, possibly with Rufus, then select the repair option rather than reinstalling?

Error 0xc000000f usually means the boot configuration or important Windows files cannot be read. After starting from the repair USB, use Troubleshoot > Advanced options and try Startup Repair. If that fails, System Restore or the offline recovery tools may help. Avoid changing BIOS or disk settings unless you know exactly what they do, and back up important files before attempting major repairs.
