I'm planning to build a PC within the next couple of months and want to make the most of my budget. Major sales events like Prime Day, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday are coming up, but I'm unsure whether PC components actually receive meaningful discounts during those events. In the past, I've seen prices stay the same or even increase, making the sales feel misleading. Should I buy parts as I find good prices, wait for a major sale, or use another strategy?

Focus your price hunting on the graphics card and memory since they can take up a large portion of the budget. A used graphics card from a reputable seller can sometimes be worthwhile, but check the return policy and condition carefully. Graphics cards may also sell out quickly during promotions, so waiting for a perfect sale can backfire.
There probably isn’t one universally best shopping day. Check prices regularly, track the normal price history, and buy when the total fits your budget and the discount is real. Sale events may bring occasional deals, but they’re not guaranteed to beat ordinary promotions or clearance pricing.
Buy parts when you find a genuinely good price and when you’re ready to use them. PC components don’t follow a reliable seasonal discount pattern, and major sale events often have better deals on peripherals than on CPUs, graphics cards, memory, or other core components. Since you’re only about two months away, it’s reasonable to watch prices and be ready to buy during a worthwhile sale, but don’t assume every advertised discount is actually a bargain.
The safest approach is to buy most of the parts close together. If you purchase everything piece by piece over a long period, a defective component might sit unnoticed until the return period has expired. At minimum, get the motherboard, processor, and memory together so you can assemble a basic test system and confirm that they work.
That’s my biggest concern with buying parts too early too. Being unable to test them right away can make returns much more difficult.

Cyber Monday might be worth keeping an eye on if it falls within your timeline, but I wouldn’t delay the whole build for it if the prices are already reasonable.
