Has anyone else continued seeing issues after installing the September 2026 out-of-band updates for Windows Server? In my environment, RDP is still unreliable, some servers require two or three reboots before becoming stable, and a few virtual machines are losing their assigned IP addresses at the hypervisor layer. How widespread are these problems, and have you found any dependable workarounds? Patching has been especially rough this month.

One server won’t successfully apply the update and takes an unreasonable amount of time to boot afterward. On a different server, the RDP problem was resolved after applying the additional out-of-band update.
The affected systems appear to include multiple operating system versions rather than just one release. Reports so far include Windows Server 2019, 2022, and 2025.
No problems here so far. Our servers have patched and rebooted normally, and we haven’t noticed any RDP or networking issues.
We’re still seeing several of the same symptoms. The updates caused machine-trust and DNS problems on domain controllers, while RDP fails unpredictably on some systems. A few servers took an unusually long time to install and appeared to hang at the “do not turn off your computer” screen. We rolled the updates back on critical domain controller and DNS systems for now and plan to reassess with the next release.
