Can I Mix 5600MHz and 6000MHz DDR5 RAM?

I currently have one 16GB Corsair Vengeance module rated at CL36 and 5600MHz. I can't find an identical 5600MHz stick, but I found another module from the same product line rated at 6000MHz. I'm considering installing both and manually setting them to run at 5600MHz in the BIOS. Is this likely to work reliably, or could the mismatched modules cause compatibility or stability problems?

I wouldn’t choose mismatched memory as the first option when buying new RAM. A matched 2×16GB kit is tested to work together and is the safer choice, even if the individual sticks have similar specifications. If you do use the two existing modules, test the system with a memory diagnostic after setting the speed manually.

It will probably work, and both modules would generally run at the slower stick’s settings. However, there’s no guarantee because even modules with the same branding can use different memory chips or timings. The system might need looser settings, reduced speed, or extra troubleshooting to remain stable.

A 5600MHz module and a 6000MHz module can often be used together at 5600MHz, so the speed difference alone isn’t necessarily a problem. Still, mixing memory kits can sometimes cause instability, especially with DDR5, and compatibility depends on the motherboard, CPU’s memory controller, and the specific modules.
