I'm planning to pair an RTX 5070 12GB with a Ryzen 7 5700X3D for gaming at 1080p. I know the graphics card is more than enough for this resolution, but I can't afford a 1440p monitor yet. I've heard that 1080p can make the CPU a bigger limiting factor and that the 5700X3D may not be ideal for this GPU. Should I expect a noticeable bottleneck, or will the combination work well in real-world gaming?

Use the monitor you can afford now. The system will run 1080p games without an issue, especially if you have a high-refresh display. If you want to make the image look sharper while keeping your current monitor, options such as DLDSR can render at a higher internal resolution and downsample it.
The Ryzen 7 5700X3D is still a strong gaming CPU and can handle an RTX 5070 very well, including at 1440p. At 1080p, you may run into a CPU limit in a few especially high-frame-rate or CPU-heavy games, but it shouldn’t be a serious mismatch. You can always upgrade the monitor later.
There will always be some limiting component depending on the game and settings, but that doesn’t automatically mean the build is unbalanced. With a 5700X3D and RTX 5070, any 1080p CPU limitation should only show up in a relatively small number of games or at very high frame rates.
That combination should be perfectly fine for 1080p. Some games will be more CPU-limited and others will push the GPU harder, but any performance difference from the pairing should be minor and unlikely to be noticeable. If you’re getting the frame rate you want, there’s no practical problem.
