I'm building a gaming PC with a budget of about €1,500 and I'm stuck choosing between the Radeon RX 9060 XT and GeForce RTX 5060. In my country, the RTX 5060 costs around €450, while the RX 9060 XT costs about €550. The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is out of my budget at roughly €700.
I want to play at 1440p with maximum settings. The RX 9060 XT appears considerably faster and has more VRAM, but I don't really want to give up features such as DLSS and frame generation. I'm looking for an objective comparison based on performance, image quality, VRAM longevity, and overall value rather than brand loyalty. Which card makes more sense for this build?

Nvidia can still be the better choice if you specifically rely on CUDA, ray tracing, or DLSS in the games you play. For the use case described here, though, the 5060's 8GB framebuffer is the bigger concern. The 9060 XT 16GB gives you a better performance baseline before upscaling and is the more sensible value at these local prices.
The 9060 XT is also a safer long-term purchase. Its 16GB of VRAM gives it more room for future games, and AMD's newer upscaling and frame-generation features are becoming more competitive. DLSS is still generally more polished, but I wouldn't trade substantially lower raw performance and only 8GB of VRAM just to get it at 1440p.
At these prices, the RX 9060 XT 16GB is the stronger choice. It offers better traditional rendering performance, twice the VRAM, and should handle demanding 1440p textures more comfortably. The RTX 5060 can benefit from DLSS in supported games, but 8GB is a significant limitation at this resolution and may lead to stuttering or reduced texture settings in newer titles.
Before deciding, check the price of the RX 9070 GRE. If it is only about €100 more than the 9060 XT, the extra performance could make it worth stretching the budget, even with less VRAM. At €650 versus €550, though, it depends on whether the rest of the build can absorb the additional cost without cutting back too much elsewhere.

The RX 9070 GRE is around €650 locally, while the RX 9070 is closer to €850, so the GRE is the only higher-tier option that might realistically fit the budget.
