My Core i9-10900K finally died after about six years, so I'm looking to replace the platform. I have roughly $600 available for the CPU, motherboard, and memory, but current RAM prices make it difficult to decide what offers the best value. I'm in the United States and currently use an RTX 3080 at 1080p, mostly playing Fortnite, Counter-Strike 2, and Marvel Rivals. High frame rates are the priority. I already have 32GB of DDR4, but the sticks are mismatched and won't run properly with XMP, so I'm open to replacing the memory as part of the upgrade.

For a new platform, look at a current gaming-focused CPU such as a Ryzen X3D chip or a comparable Intel performance model, paired with 32GB of RAM. Either option should deliver excellent 1080p frame rates with an RTX 3080, though pricing will determine which combination fits under $600. Be sure to compare complete CPU, motherboard, and memory bundles rather than buying each part separately.
The best recommendation depends heavily on the games and resolution, but your RTX 3080 and 1080p target make CPU performance especially important. A newer platform with fast 32GB memory would give you the best upgrade path, while a discounted AM4 X3D system is the value option. You could also reuse your current RAM temporarily if the motherboard supports it, but replacing the mismatched sticks with a matched kit should improve stability and make memory overclocking much less frustrating.

Where are people finding one of those combinations for around $600? That’s the part I’m having trouble with.
