Hey everyone! I'm working on a new PC build and would love your feedback. I've listed my components below:

- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor - £351.81
- **GPU**: 5080
- **CPU Cooler**: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE 66.17 CFM - £29.00
- **Motherboard**: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX AM5 - £168.99
- **Memory**: Crucial Pro Overclocking 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 - £79.99
- **Storage**: Western Digital WD_Black SN850X 1 TB NVME - £78.48
- **Storage**: Western Digital WD_Black SN850X 2 TB NVME - £119.99
- **Storage**: Western Digital WD_Black SN850X 4 TB NVME - £229.98
- **Case**: Fractal Design North XL ATX Full Tower - £155.67
- **Power Supply**: Corsair RM1000x (2024) 1000 W - £154.99

**Total**: £1368.90

I'm upgrading from a 10700k and a 3080 from 5 years ago. I just got the GPU at RRP and need a new case since my old PC will be re-homed. I still have my NH-D15 cooler for this build but will get a new cooler for the old PC.

I'm concerned the case feels a bit pricey but I want something big and quiet. As for the storage, I think I might be overdoing it — thinking about getting the SN850X for the OS and then two cheaper drives for games. I also want to ensure the motherboard is good quality, especially for audio without the need for a DAC.

This build is primarily for gaming, though I also work from home (mostly emails and documents). Any advice on getting better value or improving this build? Thanks!

Which GPU are you using?

I'm using the 5080!

For gaming, don't stress too much about investing heavily in the fastest storage. Games really don't take advantage of super high read/write speeds. The 4TB SN850X is great, but you can save with smaller, cheaper drives for general storage. Also, if you're air cooling, the larger North XL case may not be necessary since it’s mainly for additional radiator space. The same fans are used, and they can be a bit noisy, so maybe go for a standard case and invest in quieter PWM fans instead.

Yeah, definitely look into quieter fans and setting up some fan curves for less noise!

Also, consider switching to a newer B850 motherboard; it’s about the same price as your pick and has some future-proofing with PCie 5 support, which could save you a few quid.

I wouldn't suggest going with the Crucial CL36 RAM. Consider something like CL30 instead; it will give you better performance without much price difference.
