I'm considering pairing a Ryzen 7 7800X3D with an RX 9070 GRE 12GB because the combo is available at a good price where I live. Would this setup still be powerful enough for essentially all games at 1080p and 1440p in 2027? Could it also handle 4K in some titles, and am I overestimating how much performance I need?

The CPU is probably more than you need for that graphics card, especially at 1440p and 4K. If dropping to a Ryzen 5 7500F, 7600, or a similar X3D chip lets you afford an RX 9070 or 9070 XT, that could provide better overall gaming performance. For 4K, I’d also prefer a card with 16GB of VRAM rather than 12GB for better long-term headroom.
More VRAM should help with newer games and higher-resolution textures, so the 16GB models are worth considering if 4K is an important goal.
Yes, that should be a very capable combination for 1080p and 1440p. It ought to run modern games well, although the exact results will depend on the game, graphics settings, ray tracing, and the frame rate you’re targeting. 4K should be possible in less demanding games or with some settings reduced, but it won’t be as comfortable as 1440p.
If the RX 9070 is only slightly more expensive in your region, I’d seriously consider it. A stronger GPU will matter more than the 7800X3D once you move toward 1440p ultra or 4K. A system in this general performance range can deliver roughly 90–120 FPS or more at 1440p in many games, but results will vary considerably by title and settings.

A middle-ground X3D processor could also make sense if the price difference is reasonable. The extra money would likely be more useful on the GPU.
