I installed a downloaded font on Windows 11, and afterward much of the text displayed in my web browser started using it. I want to uninstall the font—or at least stop it from being used—but Windows says it cannot be deleted because it is currently in use. Most instructions I found rely on older Control Panel options that no longer seem to be available, such as right-clicking the font or opening its properties. Is there a straightforward way to identify what is using the font and remove it?

If you have a recent System Restore point from before installing the font, restoring to that point may undo the font installation and related settings. It is a broader solution than simply uninstalling the font, so make sure important files are backed up first.
First change the affected program or browser back to its original/default font. Once nothing is actively using the installed font, Windows should allow you to remove it. The warning generally means an application is still configured to use it, rather than that the font is permanently locked.
How can I tell which application is using the font? I don't see an obvious setting for it.

Do I really need to use System Restore just to remove one font?
