I'm trying to use a Sony DSC-W150 Super SteadyShot camera with a 16GB microSD card inside a Memory Stick Pro Duo adapter, but the camera always displays a "reinsert memory stick" error. The card is brand new, and I've tried reformatting it as FAT, FAT16, FAT32, and even NTFS, along with deleting partitions and reducing the usable space to 2GB. I also cleaned the accessible contacts and tried reinserting it, but the camera still doesn't recognize the card, so I can't format it in-camera. Is the adapter likely faulty, or does this camera require an actual Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo or a smaller-capacity card?

The adapter itself may be defective or incompatible. If you want to troubleshoot before buying another card, try a different Memory Stick adapter and test the microSD card in another device. If it works elsewhere but not in the camera, the adapter or the camera’s card slot is probably the issue.
The most reliable fix is to use a genuine Memory Stick Pro Duo rather than a microSD-to-Memory-Stick adapter. Older Sony cameras can be very picky about adapters and card compatibility, and formatting usually won’t help if the camera can’t detect the storage device at all.
