Should I Choose an RTX 5060 Ti or RTX 5070 for My Ryzen 7 5700G Build?

I'm planning to upgrade the graphics card in my PC and need to stay within a budget. My current system has a Ryzen 7 5700G, an ASUS Prime B550M-K ARGB motherboard, 16GB of Lexar Thor DDR4 memory, and a 500W SilverStone power supply. I'm deciding between an RTX 5060 Ti and an RTX 5070. I've heard that the RTX 5070 may require a new PSU, but upgrading the power supply is still affordable for me. Which card would make more sense for this system, and should I consider upgrading the CPU as well?

If replacing the power supply is within your budget, the RTX 5070 is the faster and more future-proof option. Your Ryzen 7 5700G may limit performance in some CPU-heavy games, especially at lower resolutions or high refresh rates, but the 5070 will still provide a substantial GPU upgrade. Just make sure the new PSU meets the card’s recommended wattage and connector requirements.

The 5700G could hold back either card in some situations, so it may be worth comparing the cost of a Ryzen 7 5700X3D or another compatible AM4 gaming CPU. A 5060 Ti paired with a stronger CPU could offer a more balanced build, while the 5070 makes more sense if you want maximum graphics performance now and plan to upgrade the processor later.

I’d check the price of a 5700X3D before deciding. Since the system is already on AM4, a CPU upgrade plus the 5060 Ti may be better value than spending everything on the 5070, depending on the games and resolution you use.
