I'm completely new to PC gaming and am switching from console. I have a budget of about $1,500 and need help choosing the best specifications and parts for a gaming computer. I'm not very familiar with hardware, so advice on balancing the CPU, graphics card, memory, storage, monitor, and other essentials would be appreciated.

A prebuilt parts list can give you a solid starting point. For this budget, prioritize the graphics card since it has the biggest effect on gaming performance, then choose a compatible processor, motherboard, power supply, case, and enough storage. Make sure the list includes two matching RAM sticks rather than a single stick, since dual-channel memory performs better.
One example configuration fits the budget with a midrange six-core processor, 16 GB of dual-channel RAM, a 512 GB NVMe SSD, and a graphics card with 16 GB of video memory. That leaves room for a 1440p monitor, though storage may fill up quickly and should probably be expanded later. Also check that the included power supply has enough wattage and comes from a reliable manufacturer; a case with an integrated low-quality power supply is best avoided.
You don’t necessarily need the newest platform or components. A DDR4-based system can lower the cost and leave more money for the graphics card, although it may offer less room for future upgrades than DDR5. Compare prices from reputable retailers and local used listings, but be careful with secondhand graphics cards and power supplies. Decide which games and resolution you want to play first, then build around the graphics card.
I don’t have any friends who know much about PCs, but I’ll research the graphics cards and compare new and used options carefully.

Thanks a lot! I’ll use the parts list as a starting point and double-check the memory configuration.
