I'm having serious FPS problems in Rust despite using a Ryzen 7 5800X3D, RTX 5060, 32 GB of DDR4-3200 memory, and a Samsung 980 PRO NVMe SSD. My monitor runs at 2560×1000. I previously got roughly 80–120 FPS with most settings on very low, but after changing some settings, performance dropped to about 60 FPS even on low settings. I've already disabled V-Sync, and I'm currently resetting the PC because I'm worried something went wrong. Is this hardware combination really expected to perform this poorly, and what should I check?

A normal Windows reset may not completely clear the old installation and partitions. If the problem remains, consider backing up your files and performing a genuinely clean Windows installation from USB, deleting the existing system partitions during setup.
Check Task Manager while the game is running, especially the Performance tab. Under Memory, confirm that the RAM is actually running at about 3200 MT/s rather than falling back to a lower speed. Also check Windows power settings and try the Balanced plan instead of an unusual power-saving profile.
Since V-Sync is already disabled, also check whether the game or driver has an FPS limit enabled. Look at Rust’s frame-rate settings, NVIDIA Control Panel, and any overlay or monitoring software that could be capping performance.
The 450 W power supply is worth investigating. It may be enough on paper depending on the exact RTX 5060 model, but check the manufacturer’s recommended wattage and make sure the GPU power connector is properly installed. Monitor GPU usage, clocks, temperatures, and power draw while playing; those readings can show whether the card is being limited.

I used the factory-reset option, which said it would remove everything and reinstall Windows. Is a USB clean install still worth doing afterward?
