I reset my PC to troubleshoot audio problems, and since then my games occasionally drop from around 150 FPS to 80 FPS during gameplay. Before the reset, performance was stable. I installed the newest NVIDIA graphics and AMD chipset drivers, but the issue remains. My system has an RTX 3080 Ti and a Ryzen 5 7600X. What settings or troubleshooting steps should I check?

Make sure both driver packages were installed correctly: use NVIDIA’s official app or installer for the GPU and AMD Chipset Software for the Ryzen platform. A clean reinstall of both drivers may be worth trying, since Windows can sometimes install a generic or incorrect version after a reset.
Check your BIOS settings after reinstalling Windows. Memory profiles such as EXPO/XMP may have been disabled, and features like Resizable BAR or Smart Access Memory could also be turned off. Those settings can affect gaming performance.
Go through a full performance check rather than focusing only on drivers. Verify BIOS performance settings, reinstall the NVIDIA and chipset drivers cleanly, check Windows power and background-process settings, and monitor CPU and GPU temperatures while the drops happen. If temperatures or clocks suddenly fall under load, that could point to overheating or power management. The reset may not have changed every BIOS option, but it is still worth confirming them manually.

I already checked the BIOS settings and they appear unchanged. I’m going to try different versions of the chipset and NVIDIA drivers, then monitor temperatures and clock speeds while gaming.
