Do I Need One or Two Cables for My 9070 GPU?

Hey everyone, I'm about to receive my first GPU that has more than one 8-pin connector. My power supply includes two 'dual 8-pin' PCIe cables, but I've seen that Seasonic recommends using two separate cables for high-powered GPUs. However, they don't specify any wattage limits. So, I'm wondering, is the 9070 considered a high-powered GPU? Can I get away with using a single cable that has two 8-pin connectors instead? I'm asking because space is tight in my ITX case.

Following Seasonic's recommendation is a solid move. If your GPU has two plugs, it’s safer to use two cables to avoid any issues.

It's best to use two separate cables if you have them. It reduces the risk of overheating and ensures your GPU gets enough power without any potential hiccups.

While it's generally better to go with two separate cables just to play it safe, a single cable with two 8-pins should technically handle it. Just keep in mind that an 8-pin connector is rated for about 150W, but it can safely go up to 220W thanks to its safety factor, so it shouldn’t catch fire or anything.
