Hey everyone! I'm planning to upgrade my GPU, and I could really use your input. Here's the scoop on my current build:
- **CPU**: AMD 7 5800X with an Endorfy Navis F280 cooler
- **GPU**: ZOTAC single fan GTX 1070
- **RAM**: 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 at 3600MHz
- **Motherboard**: Gigabyte B550 GAMING X V2
- **PSU**: beQuiet PurePower 550W
- **SSD**: 1TB WD Black SN770
- **Fans**: Four 120mm
- **Monitor**: 1080p at 240Hz
I'm thinking of upgrading to either a ZOTAC RTX 3070 Ti Trinity OC (8GB) for **$356** without warranty or a Gainward Phoenix 3080 with warranty for **$380**. Both cards are used. Just to clarify, I can swap my current PSU for my dad's 650W if necessary, and I know I might need a stronger PSU for the upgrade.
I mainly play CPU-heavy games like Assetto Corsa and LeMans Ultimate, and during big races, my FPS drops to around 80, which isn't terrible, but I'd love to see numbers over 200 for a smoother experience. Plus, when I try to enhance my gameplay graphics, I see frame drops down to 20-30 FPS, making it hard for cinematics.
I'd appreciate any advice you can give, and let me know if you need more details about my build!

I'd recommend going for the 3080 just for the warranty. The performance boost is significant, and it's wise to have that coverage, especially with used cards. Just remember, if you decide to go with the 3080, I’d aim for at least a 750W PSU to be safe, especially under load. It's better to have extra headroom than to be at capacity!
You might want to look at the Arc B580 as well! It could be a good option for your setup if you find it in your area.
Really? What makes that a good choice?
The 3070 Ti can still handle most modern games really well, delivering over 60-100 FPS. Just keep in mind, if you upgrade to either of these GPUs, you will need to match your PSU to the GPU's requirements. They recommend 650W for the 3070 Ti and 750W for the 3080, with new PSUs going for around $50 or more these days. Plus, if you're not interested in DLSS or Frame Generation, the 3070 Ti might still serve your needs for now!
That’s good to know! I’m not too keen on DLSS and FG anyway. But the sketchiness of the 3070 Ti seller really puts me off.
Yeah, I agree! The 3070 Ti feels kind of risky without knowing its history, so the 3080 sounds safer. Still, is the 650W PSU really enough for it, or should I definitely upgrade?
