I'm currently running an RTX 4080 in my PC, but I've been eyeing the ASRock Phantom Gaming Radeon RX 7900 XTX with 24GB of GDDR6 memory. I'm wondering if it's worth it to sell my current GPU for around $800-1000 and switch to the RX 7900 XTX. I've tried doing some research, but honestly, I'm a bit confused about all the technical details—bigger numbers don't always mean better performance, right? Thanks for any insights!

The performance between the RTX 4080 and the RX 7900 XTX is quite close. The 7900 XTX is slightly faster for raster graphics, but the 4080 edges out in ray tracing performance. A big advantage of the AMD card is the extra 8GB of VRAM, but most current games don’t really require more than 16GB. So from my perspective, it might not be worth going through the hassle and cost of switching.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Not many games demand that much VRAM these days!
