You don't need a super expensive setup for Minecraft! I have an older Dell laptop that's only worth around $200-300, and it runs the game at 400fps using the Lunar Client. Just make sure you get something with at least 8GB of RAM and a CPU from the last five years. The Lunar Client is great for low to mid-range systems too!
