I know this might sound like a beginner's question, but I'm a bit worried. Is there any chance I could get malware just by downloading a profile photo from Instagram?

You're totally safe! Honestly, it's super unlikely to catch malware from a simple image download, especially not from Instagram. If you're dealing with malware, it likely came from somewhere else.

That's good to hear, but I’m just cautious since this user has tried to access my accounts before.

It really depends on how you grabbed the photo. If you used a sketchy site, then maybe, but if you just right-clicked and saved the image from Instagram, you're fine! Just a bit more info on how you did it would help clear things up.

I downloaded it directly from Instagram.

No way! You won't get malware from that. Just downloading a profile pic is totally safe as long as you’re using a normal method.

Thanks for confirming! That makes me feel better.
