Help Deciding My First PC Upgrade

Hi everyone! I bought my PC about a year ago for $100, and it's served me well as a second screen for my Xbox gaming. However, I'm looking to dive into PC gaming more seriously, especially trying out games like Helldivers 2 and Delta Force. Unfortunately, I've been experiencing a lot of lag, and it seems my CPU is bottlenecking performance. Here are my specs: CPU: Core i7-7700K and GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060. Since this is my first PC, I'm unsure about what to upgrade first. Any suggestions?

It looks like you're hitting a wall with your setup. Unfortunately, there's not much upgrade potential for an 8-year-old PC since your CPU is already the best on that socket. You might want to consider a pre-built PC if you're looking for better performance with newer games.

Thank you for the insight! Should I focus on finding a pre-built then?
