I just got myself a new 2TB NVMe SSD and I'm planning to keep my current 1TB SSD solely for the operating system and programs. My question is, will running the OS on one SSD while the games are on a separate SSD affect game performance in any way? Also, is this a typical setup among gamers, and how can I configure Steam and other games to install on the second drive?

As long as you’re not pushing your drives to the limit with updates or heavy tasks, you should be fine. I have a similar setup with multiple SSDs, and it helps with keeping everything organized.
There’s absolutely no performance hit with this setup. In Steam, just go to Settings > Storage, and you can add your new drive there. It’ll let you choose where to install games.
You shouldn't see any issues. It's a common configuration. Just head to Steam settings, add your drive, and you’re good to go! A little tip: if the drive is faster, you might notice some slight benefits with certain new games.
Nope, it won't affect performance at all! That's actually a pretty common setup. I have a 1TB SSD for Windows and a 2TB SSD just for gaming. You'll be just fine with that arrangement.
I’ve been running this setup for years with no issues. Just make an alternate folder for your Steam library on the new SSD, and you can easily move games around if needed!
